Our History
Community Roots (1992)
The Île-à-la-Crosse Friendship Centre was established in 1992. Local community members raised $180,000 to renovate a facility and establish core operations in Île-à-la-Crosse.
National Recognition
Friendship Centres have operated across Canada since 1959. Recognized by the Government of Canada as vital institutions responding to urban Métis and Indigenous community needs.
Provincial & National Affiliations
An active member of the Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan (AFCS) and the National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC).
Programs & Services
Early Childhood & Family
Aboriginal Head Start Program and Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program supporting young mothers, infants, and early child development.
Justice & Employment Support
Court Worker Programs, Fine Option Program, Young Offenders Initiatives, and New Career Job Readiness training.
Youth & Culture
Urban Multi-Purpose Aboriginal Youth Centre, Summer Student Programs, Aboriginal Healing Foundation, and Métis cultural events.
AFCS Strategic Objectives
